During setup, the spikes are inserted into the base of the Tray2Grow, with each spike tied together with a strip of capillary material.
When your grow bag is placed on a bed of capillary spikes, they pierce the underside of the grow bag. A capillary lace on the tip draws water and (if desired) nutrient solution from the tray to irrigate and feed the grow bag from the inside.
