Depending on how you use it, specially developed compost and natural bacteria can last up to six months in your generator. Once the generator is empty, you can simply empty, clean and refill the generator. It's always a good idea to have a CO2 detector to give you an accurate idea of the level of CO2 production and when to top up.

Like the contents of the complete generators, the CO2 cartridges are packed "dry", so you can easily store them without worrying about their deterioration or unpleasant smell. When it's time to use the refill, the dry mix is easy to activate. Open the cartridge bag and empty it into the generator, then add hot (not boiling) water in one of the following quantities (depending on the size of your CO2 cartridge):
